My name is Miles, originally from the university city of Cambridge, I am now lucky enough to be based in the heart of the beautiful New Forest National Park. I live in Brockenhurst with my wife and two interesting and funny children. We originally moved to the forest for the open space, wildlife and cycling; but fell in love with the sea. When the weather is fair and the tides are right, we can be found bobbing about on the Solent in our little boat!
In the last decade we have seen huge technological change take place in our homes and in the work place which offer us new ways of entertaining ourselves as well as working. Cloud based services give us easy ways of accessing our music, films and files while we are on the move. Our home appliances are now connected to the internet so that we can see who's at the door, or switch off the oven from miles away. In the development world, we can build virtual environments to host our infrastructure for testing, evaluation and production purposes. And of course lets not forget the latest big buzz: AI!
I have been working in the pure IT sector for over 15 years for some of the largest names in Corporate and Open Source networking and online application security who have been driving that change and progress.
Whilst working for those companies I provided enterprise grade solutions and services to some of the most famous brand names in the world, to help them to deliver their on-line plaforms and services to hundreds of millions of users.
While the technology may be constantly changing, it seems to me that our needs and expectations have not changed that much. We want our IT to work for us, and most of the time, we don't want to worry about how it does it, because we all have busy lives.
